The Nassau Pops turns to Las Vegas for its annual benefit concert

Long Island welcomes Vegas-style glamour and glitz

There’s no need to travel to Las Vegas to enjoy Vegas-style entertainment. Try an afternoon at Tilles Center with the Nassau Pops Symphony Orchestra instead. Maestro Louis Panacciulli and his Nassau Pops celebrate “The Golden Age of Vegas,” at the orchestra’s 8th annual gala benefit concert for United Cerebral Palsy of Nassau on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 3 p.m.
Bob Anderson, known as the “Dean of Impressionists,” joins Maestro Panacciulli and his orchestra for some music, memories, and plenty of laughs. Also sharing the stage, back by popular demand, are the JC Lynn Dancers, a 21-girl kickline, who will thrill the audience with their Rockette-style performance.
Dubbed by People Magazine as “America’s Greatest Singing Impressionist,” Anderson will delight everyone as he ‘brings’ favorite celebrities along for this show. His uncanny impressions will amaze those in attendance and orchestra members alike. Within minutes, Anderson will have his audience thinking they are at the famed Vegas casinos enjoying the sounds of the great singers of our time, such as Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Johnny Mathis, Sammy Davis, Ol’ Blue Eyes, and many more.
Anderson, who began his career performing with Nancy Sinatra, is recognized by audiences and celebrities as one of the best in the business. Dean Martin once said, “Bob does me better than I do me!” He has appeared on The Johnny Carson Show, with David Letterman and was a Merv Griffin regular. The Las Vegas community recognized Anderson for his accomplishments by inducting him into “The Casino Legends Hall of Fame,” the only impressionist with this distinction.
“I’m tremendously excited to be doing another Las Vegas-style show,” said Panacciulli. “Last year people really enjoyed the theme of an exciting stage show which replicated what you would see in a casino, with our Liberace impersonator. So we decided to do a second in series of Las Vegas type shows, and this time we are using Bob Anderson and his impersonations as the centerpiece of our show.”
