Valley Stream celebrated Halloween in style on Oct. 29, with costume contests for humans and canines alike.

Friends of the Valley Stream Dog Park hosted its annual Howl-O-Ween costume contest, in which dogs donned costumes such as a mermaid, the devil, a dog pound and a politician.

The same day, the recreation department hosted a costume contest for children at Arthur J. Hendrickson Park, which attracted costumes of the scary and silly variety.
