Health & Wellness Fair

The 2nd annual Health and Wellness Fair will take place on Sat., Sept. 10 from 10 a.m.-3p.m. at the New Horizon Counseling Center on 50 W Hawthorne Ave. in Valley Stream. The free event invites locals to get their flu shots and four cardio-vascular screenings, free with insurance cards. Health experts will be on-hand for a meet and greet. 3D printing creations program

This two-day program will begin Sat., Sept. 10 at 2 p.m. with a lesson on how 3D printing works. On Sun., Sept. 11 at 1 p.m., participants will engage in hands-on designing. Event takes place at the Henry Waldinger Memorial Library, located at 60 Verona Plaza. Registration occurs at the adult reference desk. Irish Cultural Society meeting

Dr. Eileen Sullivan will deliver a talk on the role of popular fiction in 19th century America in shaping the identity of Irish immigrants and the Catholic culture in America. Sullivan is the author of The Shamrock and the Cross: Irish-American Novelists Shape American Catholicism and will deliver a talk under the same name.
