Two Valley Stream teens are charged in the attempted robbery of a woman in Gibson last Sunday night.

Police say that 18-year-old Heather Dajani, of Beverly Parkway, and 19-year-old Sergio Urra, of North Fletcher Avenue, attacked the woman who was walking on Munro Boulevard from the Gibson train station at 9:50 p.m. Dajani was reportedly armed with a metal rod and struck the victim, demanding her purse. Police say the woman was able to wrest the pipe away and strike Dajani, knocking off the suspect’s eyeglasses. Dajani then jumped into a Honda waiting nearby, which police say was being driven by Urra, and the pair fled the scene.

The victim was transported to South Nassau Communities Hospital where she was treated and released.

Later that night, police were called to Dajani’s home for injuries suffered during the attempted robbery. According to police, Dajani told her mother she had been assaulted by an ex-boyfriend. She was transported to Franklin Hospital, accompanied by Urra.

Following an investigation, including an identification of Dajani’s glasses that had been recovered at the scene, the two were arrested. They were each charged with first-degree attempted robbery.
