Two Valley Streamers charged in assault on police officers

Two Valley Stream residents were among those arrested for an alleged assault on Nassau County Police officers at the Courtesy Hotel in West Hempstead.

Police say there was a verbal altercation between two individuals in the parking lot of the Hempstead Avenue hotel on Tuesday night. A man repeatedly jumped on the hood of the other person's car, kicking the driver's side panel and causing extensive damage.

Police officers arrived and attempted to arrest the man, identified as 18-year-old Justin Wright of Rockaway Aveue in Valley Stream. According to police, he resisted. Then, police say, two other women at the scene attacked the officers. On officer was kicked in the head and suffered a concussion, another suffered a knee injury and third a knee injury and fractured wrist.

The officers were transported to a local hospital where they were treated and released.

Wright was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and Resisting Arrest. Shakeva Wright, 20, of Harding Street in Uniondale was charged with two counts of second-degree assault, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest. Defendant Lashana Coleman 29, of Rockaway Avenue in Valley Stream was charged with second-degree assault, secnd-degree obstructing governmental administration resisting arrest.
