Valley Stream District 30 passes school budget

Voters approve $39,606,811 budget, re-elect Cummings

On May 18, voters in Valley Stream District 30 voted "yes" to approve the 2021-2022 school budget. 

The $39,606,811 budget was passed by a vote of 282 to 153. It is 3.54 percent larger than the current spending plan. Voters also approved  Proposition 2 by a vote of 340 to 91, allowing for the use  of capital reserve funds.

Incumbent Board of Education Trustee Kenneth Cummings was re-elected with 233 votes. He ran against challengers Abigail Devi Arjune, who received 56 votes, and Shehla Islam, who garnered 145 votes.
