In a first this year, the Village of Valley Stream is offering a free drive-in movie series throughout the summer for residents. The viewings will be  located at the Hendrickson Park pool parking lot and are only open to village residents. Gates open at 7 p.m. and show time starts at 9 p.m.

“After what has been a difficult 2020 so far we are excited to offer a bit of unique, good-old-fashioned fun to our residents,” Mayor Ed Fare said. “Hopefully we can find more innovative ways for families to safely enjoy this coming summer season. I trust this will bring some family fun back to the folks who are able to participate.”

Due to the dangers posed by the coronavirus viewers will be required to stay in their cars. Restrooms, however, will be available. For more information, and to register visit the village website at vsvny.org or Facebook page. The movie schedule is as follows:

— June 12 “Grease”

— July 3 “Independence Day”

— July 17 “Jumanji”

— Aug. 7 “Sonic the Movie”

— Aug. 28 “Jaws”
