Village of Valley Stream hosts annual family fishing day at Hendrickson Park

Posted

Men, women and children of all ages came down to the Arthur J. Hendrickson Park lake, and picked up poles and bait for the sixth annual Family Fishing Weekend on June 24 and 25.

It was a catch-and-release program, meaning that all fish caught were to be returned to the water after unhooking and maybe a picture.

The free family fishing weekend began in 2013 in conjunction with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s free fishing weekend. Fishing licenses are required to fish in fresh water bodies in New York, but for those two days no licenses were required.
