Voters passed Valley Stream District 13's spending plan for the 2021-2022 school year on May 18.
Passed by a vote of 605 to 576, the $55,526,830 budget is 2.03 percent larger than the current spending plan. In addition, voters passed Proposition II, allowing $140,000 from capital reserves to be used to pay for the installation of a Smartboard and classroom redesign. Proposition III was also approved, authorizing the transfer of $2,300,000 from capital reserves to pay for the renovation of classroom space at James A. Dever and to renovate the district business office.
Incumbent Jennifer Oliveri was re-elected to the school board with 625 votes. She ran against challenger Qubilah Mackey-Matos, who received 338 votes. Challenger Anthony Bonelli was elected with 465 votes. He ran against incumbent William P. Stris, who garnered 455 votes, and William Blair, who received 205 votes.
