VSFD Company No. 2 tree sale continues

Continuing a tradition now in its third year, the Valley Stream Fire Department Engine Company No. 2 is currently holding its annual Christmas tree and wreath sale, and residents can stop by the company’s Brooklyn Avenue firehouse Thursdays, Fridays Saturdays and Sundays to purchase up a tree while supplies last.

The sale funds additional training and equipment for the volunteer firefighters at the company, according VSFD Captain Tom McBride. Trees for sale come in a variety of sizes and wreaths come pre-decorated.

“We want everybody to enjoy the holidays the best they can,” McBride said, “especially with the rough time everyone’s having this year.”

It is the third year Engine Company No. 2 has held a Christmas tree sale fundraiser and McBride said the volunteers plan on continuing it for many more to come.

“It’d be nice for everybody to come out and support them,” Valley Stream Fire Chief Eugene O’Brien said. “They always have very good trees, very healthy and they always last a long time. It’s always good to support the local volunteers.”
