Water company offers environmental grants

Posted

New York American Water is accepting applications for its Environmental Grant Program through April 1, which would provide funding for sustainability projects that address water quality issues within the company’s service areas.

“Safeguarding our water supply and environment for the future should be our highest priority,” said Brian Bruce, New York American Water President. “We know many groups and individuals are making efforts to protect this most vital resource and we are excited for the opportunity to help support those initiatives.”

Grants provide up to $10,000 in funding for innovative and sustainable environmental projects that improve, restore or protect watersheds, surface water and groundwater inside of the company’s service areas. Any non-profit, (corporate or municipal) school or university student can apply.

Recipients are selected by the company’s employees based on the stated goals of the project, its potential impact, innovation, design, collaboration, sustainability and community engagement. Projects must be completed between May 1 and Nov. 30 to be considered, and must provide a sustainability report that proves it will have a lasting impact on the community.

Information and additional application requirements are available on the New York American Water website amwater.com/nyaw under the “Water Quality and Stewardship” tab. Grant recipients will be notified in mid-April.
