Welcomes new Sept. 11 memorial

Posted

To the Editor:

My husband, Joseph, is a survivor of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City (World Trade Center, North Tower). We would like to commend Mayor Ed Fare and his administration for beginning the work to incorporate the steel beam from the World Trade Center into a permanent 9/11 memorial in Hendrickson Park.

Expanding the design to memorialize the attack at the Pentagon and the fate of Flight 93 brings meaningful unity to the tragedies of that day. Soon Valley Streamers will have a sacred place where they can pray and reflect upon one of the darkest days in our history. Prayer and reflection can help us to move forward.

Thank you to Mayor Fare.
