The Wantagh Kiwanis held its annual “Men Who Cook,” fundraiser at Temple B’nai Torah on Saturday.

The event was Vegas-themed and all proceeds went towards scholarships for graduating Wantagh High School seniors and sent four children to Kamp Kiwanis.

Recipients of the Kiwanis scholarship included Avary Kratzer, Kaitlyn Pfundstein and Lindsay Stevens.

“It’s important to recognize when someone does something good in our community,” Legis. Michael Venditto, D-Massapequa, said.

“Like Mother Theresa said ‘it’s not how much we give— or cook— but how much we care about giving— or cooking,” Legis. Dave Denenberg, D-Merrick, added.

Kiwanis President Heidi Felix spoke about how people from different Kiwanis groups supported the event, describing the Kiwanis community as a network of caring people devoted towards helping each other.

“There are so many people you meet in your life and you never know when they’re going to come up and support you,” she said.
