Voters say 'yes' to Glen Cove City School District budget , capitol projects

The 2024-2025 Glen Cove City School district budget of $113,416,040 passed, with 689 voters in favor and 392 votes against.

Voters also approved proposition two, which passed with 711 votes. It encompasses the establishment of a new capital reserve fund to cover various upgrades and renovations for classrooms, the high school auditorium, gymnasium, cafeteria, and library improvements, as well as technology upgrades, security enhancements, and compliance with ADA requirements.

Proposition three passed with 714 votes which will allow the district to spend $9 million from the capital reserve fund established on May 21, 2019.

Anne Markoulis, Meghan Lavine and Maureen Jimenez ran uncontested. Markoulis received 789 votes, Lavine received 748 votes and Jimenez received 772 votes.

The results were announced at 9:50 p.m., almost an hour after the polls closed. School officials said they were thrilled with the results.
