Malverne man arrested for burglary

A Malverne resident was arrested on Sept. 4 after police said he tried to burglarize a home in Lynbrook.

According 4th Precinct detectives, Christopher Johnson, 28, of Morris Avenue, entered the Lynbrook home through a window earlier that day, but was immediately confronted by a 65-year-old female resident of the house. While the woman called the police, Johnson fled the house on foot down Sampson Street. There was no loss.

After a brief chase on foot between Johnson and the police, Johnson was apprehended and arrested on Front Street in East Rockaway. There were no injuries reported.

Johnson has been charged with second degree burglary and he was arraigned in the First District Court in Hempstead on Sept. 5.

Burglary

Lakeview- A home on Tanglewood Road was burglarized on Sept. 7 between 3 and 11 p.m. The suspect gained entry into the home by removing an air conditioner out of a bedroom window. The loss was jewelry and household items.

Thefts

Lakeview- Four tires and rims were stolen from a 2010 Mercedes Benz S550 parked in front of 468 Lakeview Avenue on Sept. 10 between 3:40 and 3:50 a.m.

Lakeview-A GPS was stolen from a 2007 Nissan Murano parked on Pinebrook Court on either Sept. 3 or 4 between 6 and 12:30 p.m.

West Hempstead- A GPS was stolen from a 2009 Nissan Altima parked on Langley Avenue on either Sept. 7 or Sept. 8 between 7 p.m. and 6:50 a.m.

West Hempstead- A GPS was stolen from a 2008 Toyota sports utility vehicle parked on Ontario Road on Sept. 4 between 5:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.

DWI

West Hempstead- Police made a DWI arrest on Hempstead Turnpike on Sept. 9 at 4:20 a.m.

West Hempstead- Police made a DWI arrest on Hempstead Turnpike on Sept. 8 at 3:25 a.m.

West Hempstead- Police made a DWI arrest on Hempstead Turnpike on Sept. 5 at 3:50 a.m.
