Crime Watch: Three arrested in Lakeview and West Hempstead

Arrest — Shooting

Fifth Squad detectives arrested on Sunday a man who allegedly shot two people in a nightclub in West Hempstead.

Around 2 a.m. on Jan. 30, cops arrested 22-year-old Justin Lewis, of Lantern Street in Huntington, for shooting and injuring two employees of Tabu nightclub, located at 514 Hempstead Turnpike.

According to cops, Lewis was asked to leave the nightclub and returned shortly thereafter with a black and silver handgun. He allegedly fired two shots, wounding one man in the abdomen and the other in the neck. Lewis then fled the scene and was seen running through an alley. He was then arrested by Fifth Precinct officers in a parking lot near the alley.

Both victims were taken to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Lewis was charged with two counts of first-degree assault, criminal use of a firearm and second-degree possession of a weapon. He was arraigned on Monday in First District Court in Hempstead. Bail was set at $600,000 bond/$300,000 bail. Lewis, who is represented by Eliot Bloom, is due back in court on Feb. 2.

Arrest — Attempted Robbery

Detectives with the Nassau County Police Department’s Fifth Squad reported the details of two arrests for attempted robbery that occurred on Monday, Jan. 24, at 7:30 p.m. in Lakeview.

Two young men — which police identified as 18-year-old Bobrick Gions of Waterview Drive in Lakeview and Reshad Cameron, 20, of Dekoven Street in Rockville Centre — allegedly attempted to rob a 22-year-old man who was walking home from the train station on Woodfield Road.

Cops said Gions and Cameron knocked the victim to the ground and demanded money from him. When the victim showed them he had no money, they fled the scene. The victim, who was not injured, went to a neighboring home and called police.

After giving officers a description of the his assailants, police broadcast a notification. A short time later, the pair was located by the intersection of Eagle Avenue and Arthur Street in West Hempstead and placed under arrest.

Gions and Cameron were charged with second-degree attempted robbery and arraigned on Tuesday, Jan. 25, in First District Court in Hempstead.
