The Malverne Wildcats — a youth football team that includes children from Malverne, Lakeview, West Hempstead, Franklin Square, Elmont and surrounding communities — held its opening day Sunday at the football field at Malverne High School.
Dozens of players and parents turned out for the event, which invluded performances by the Wildcats' own cheerleaders.
