Water commissioners discuss sustainable practices

As part of the Nassau Suffolk Water Commissioners’ Association’s ongoing Educational Speaker Series, which includes West Hempstead Water District Commissioner Kenneth Wenthen Jr., the group recently held a discussion on the importance of going paperless as related to managing water districts. Paperless Solutions CEO and president Martin Chalif, and Bimser International Corporation Managing Director Kevin Devecioglu were the guest speakers for the program.

An expert in his field, Chalif focused on managing all types of assets on one common platform that can generate more than 10,000 reports; QDMS, a compliance and quality management tool; and OCR Document Imaging, a faster, more accurate scanning mode that saves time and money and is more secure. He explained how going paperless dramatically reduces clerical time, contributes to greater and more timely compliance, and is environmentally friendly, helping to save trees.

“The presentation by Mr. Chalif and Mr. Devecioglu was enlightening and informative,” said NSWCA President William Schuckmann in a news release. “The ideas they discussed are near and dear to our members, as we are elected by voters and are always cognizant of cost savings and greater efficiencies. We continually advocate for conservation in water usage. Saving paper from production and disposal standpoints helps us to continue fulfilling this goal while also enabling us to help our environment. This aids in long-term sustainability, something we are keenly aware of at NSWCA. We thank them both for sharing their time and knowledge.”
