West Hempstead man arrested for murder

A West Hempstead man was arrested on Aug. 2 for allegedly murdering a man outside of National Wholesale Liquidators in West Hempstead.

According to Nassau County Police Department's Homicide Squad, at 10:55 p.m., a 39-year-old male victim was in the back parking lot of the Hempstead Turnpike store when he became involved in an argument with Bruny Fenelon, 30, of West Hempstead.

According to detectives, the argument escalated, and Fenelon began to punch and kick the victim, which resulted in his death.

The victim, police said, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are withholding his name pending family notification.  

Fenelon allegedly fled the scene on foot, but was later arrested at his home, which is located on Hempstead Turnpike.

 Fenelon is being charged with second-degree murder and was arraigned on Aug. 3 at First District Court in Hempstead.
