At the Baldwin Public Library’s annual Job Fair on Sept. 15, it quickly became clear why unemployment is at the top of the national agenda. The library’s Kevin B. Kamen Community Room was reserved for the three-hour fair, but the crowd of job seekers spilled out of the large hall into the library’s study and reading areas. more
For one day, at least, the administrators of the Baldwin Public Library will eschew their moratorium on chatter. The occasion? The 2011 Job Fair, an annual event at which networking, small talk and the rapid-fire delivery of an elevator speech will not only escape shushing, but will actually be encouraged. more

A group of technically talented teens put their gadget mastery to good use at the Baldwin Public Library on March 2, tutoring a gathering of seniors on the proper use of their gizmos and gear. A half dozen young people between ages 11 and 17 showed up early to enjoy pizza in the community room before their more mature clients began peppering them with questions. more
