The battle between Nassau County and Hofstra University appears to be heating up beyond the legal action between the two. County Executive Bruce Blakeman says he has subpoenaed Hofstra president Susan Poser, accusing her of colluding with a competing casino organization in an effort to derail plans by Las Vegas Sands to redevelop the Nassau Coliseum.

At Congregation Ohav Shalom last week, the Merrick Bellmore Jewish Community Council presented “Rebuilding After Oct. 7 — The Story of Kibbutz Nir Oz.” Speakers from Israel, who experienced the initial attacks, joined members of several congregations who gathered to hear their stories and to learn about ways that American Jews can help communities in Israel.

'On Broadway' — on Long Island

The Island Park Theatre Group, in conjunction with the Island Park Union Free School Recreation Department, presented “On Broadway - A Musical Revue” last weekend. A cast of 70 locals actors, dancers and singers entertained the audience at the Lincoln Orens Middle School in Island Park - and the IPTG broke records with its ticket sales.
