A tanker truck overturned on Sunrise Highway in Bellmore late Tuesday night, causing a fuel spill that erupted in flames. Officials estimate that 3,000 to 7,000 gallons of fuel escaped from the tanker, which flipped on its side just before midnight.

The Calhoun Sports Boosters Club held its eighth annual golf outing on June 27. Some 160 golfers attended, playing the Blue Course at Bethpage State Park. The foursome from Meroke Auto & Collision had the winning score. The guests of honor included past boosters president and vice president Keith and Cheryl Pastuch. Gregg Muscarella, Calhoun’s wrestling and badminton coach, was also given special recognition.
