With autumn officially under way, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Nassau County kicked off the season in style with a fall festival at the East Meadow farm, located on Merrick Avenue, just south of Prospect Avenue.
The third annual festival, which was also celebrating CCE’s 100th anniversary, took place last Friday and Saturday, and dozens of families swung by to take part in the fun.
Among the daylong activities was garden tours, a flea market and the sale of locally grown vegetables, cookies and quiche. Seasonal items like roast corn, pumpkins, apples, cider, homemade jam and cornstalks were also for sale.
