A Ziegfeld Holiday
The golden age of Broadway’s spectacular Ziegfeld shows is given a touch of holiday glitz when some of the Great White Way’s top talents tip their top hats in a special musical cabaret. The cast includes several renowned musical theater stars, joined by eight aspiring performers who are students in Molloy College’s CAP21 Theatre Arts program, along with 12 person children’s ensemble. A five-piece band provides a lively accompaniment. Favorite holiday songs take on a Ziegfeld-era vibe, with plenty of high stepping, outrageous costumes and exuberance.
Saturday, Dec. 19, 4 p.m.; Dec. 20, 3 p.m. $49-$55. Madison Theatre, Molloy College, 1000 Hempstead Ave., Rockville Centre. (516) 323-4444 or www.madisontheatreny.org.

In Concert

Musical Landscapes
Violinist Diane Block and cellist Terry Batts, who make up the ensemble Gemini Journey, explore early 20th century music in their concert “A Melange of Musical Landscapes.” A frequent performer at Nassau County Museum of Art, Gemini Journey shares their passion for the musical approach of the early 1900s, a creatively varied and fertile period that was also the time of the Golden Age of Illustration and the long career of Maxfield Parrish, whose works are presently on view at the museum. The duo examines how the excesses of the late Romantic period gave way to leaner, radical new movements including modernism, nationalism, neoclassicism, and jazz in this dynamic performance.
Saturday, Dec. 19, 3 p.m. $15, includes museum admission. Registration required. Nassau County Museum of Art, 1 Museum Dr., Roslyn Harbor. (516) 484-9337 or www.nassaumuseum.org/events.
