A special ‘wedding’ at Bowling Green

Posted

The letter “Q” married her long time companion, the letter “U,” at Bowling Green on Jan. 14. All of the kindergarten classes and their parents participated in the celebration.

The guests at the wedding were asked to dress in special attire. The girls dressed as queens, complete with fancy dresses and crowns, and the boys dressed as quarterbacks with football helmets and/or hats.

All of the tables at the reception were decorated with white tablecloths and floral centerpieces. Each guest received a wedding favor of chocolate kisses.

As a wedding gift for the happy couple, each student brought in a picture of something that started with the letter Q, which was made into a large quilt.

“Justice of the Peace” Principal Maria Ciarametaro performed the formal ceremony in the morning, and “Justice of the Peace” Assistant Principal Frank Lukasik in the afternoon. “Like all married couples, they will have quarrels, but they will stick together like quicksand,” said Ciarametaro, the Justice of the Peace. “By the power invested in me, I now pronounce you QU (kwa)!” All of the kindergarten students served as official witnesses. It was a unique lesson to get the students to understand that the letters Q and U always go together.

Following the ceremony, the children sang songs to the newlyweds. The reception began right after, and students were served sparkling cider in champagne glasses to toast the new couple, along with delicious wedding cake.

Tears of joy were shed as everyone wished the happy couple a wonderful honeymoon in  … Quebec!
