East Meadow Kiwanis hosts annual Pancake Breakfast

Posted

The Kiwanis Club of East Meadow hosted its annual All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Breakfast on March 8, a Sunday morning, at East Meadow High School.

The aim of the program is to raise money for service organization's college scholarship funds at East Meadow and W.T. Clarke High Schools, while also supporting the many ongoing projects that Kiwanis orchestrates throughout the year.

Attendees enjoyed unlimited amounts of juice, pancakes, sausages, coffee and tea for only $5, and were also offered free on-site blood pressure and glaucoma screening from Dr. Alan Alterman and Dr. Steve Perrick.

Financial and material support for this event was provided by Wal-Mart, Opthhalmic Consultants of Long Island, Jim Jam Cleaners, Alure Home Improvements, Astoria Federal Savings, Empress Diner, Sunrise Assisted Living, Starbucks, Sign-A-Rama, Beverage Barn, Connelly and Sons Plumbing, Big Chief School & Camp, Figarelly's Delicatessen Caterers, Hooters, Fili Dental, State Farm Dignam Agency, and M.D. Cohn Interiors --all from East Meadow —  and Aramark, Inc of Syosset.

Those in attendance also had a chance to enter raffles to win prizes like a GPS and a digital camera.

The event was co-chaired by Kiwanians Jim Mancuso, Gary Fromowitz and Barry Rubinstein.

The Kiwanis Club of East Meadow is a service organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and families.

Its members regularly participate in activities that benefit disadvantaged people in their town and county.  In addition to Kiwanians, several student volunteers from the school's service organizations pitched in.

This weekend, the Kiwanis club will continue its regular tradition of delivering holiday food baskets to families in need in the community.
