Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater celebrates 50 years as a leading modern dance company, when the ensemble returns to Tilles Center for three performances on Friday, April 29, at 8 p.m., and Saturday, April 30, at 2 and 8 p.m.

Led by the renowned Judith Jamison in her final year as artistic director, and joined by Artistic Director Designate Robert Battle, the current national tour celebrates five decades of Revelations. A short film will be shown prior to Revelations at each performance, giving audiences the opportunity to learn about the inspiration, meaning and significance of this modern dance masterpiece.

Besides presenting the revered Revelations, each performance features new productions and repertory favorites. Both evening programs, will feature three premieres: Anointed, The Evolution of a Secured Feminine and The Hunt, along with the classic

Revelations. The matinee performance includes a new production of Three Black Kings, and the Ailey classic Suite Otis.
