Bowling Green celebrates autumn with Councilman Hudes

Hempstead Town Councilman Gary Hudes recently brought his support and inspiration to the fun-filled “Fall Festival” at the Bowling Green Elementary School in Westbury.

According to PTA Co-President Pauline Carlino,  “This was the best one in years. It was more kid-friendly. We had a gymnastic bus, a clown, scarecrow-making, Jack O’Lantern-making, cupcake-making.”

Festival Chairperson Jan Abbatiello pointed out that while the event raised funds for school activities, Girl Scouts sold candy to benefit Troop No. 1376. “The festival was very successful. It was a windy day. People were joking that the festival was so good that it ‘blew everyone away.’”

Both agreed that the appearance of Hudes  provided a boost. “It was great to have Gary there,” said Abbatiello. “He’s a very nice guy. People were coming up to him all the time.”

Carlino said,  “Councilman Hudes is part of the Bowling Green family in a big way. People like him and ask him questions. Last June, for our Field Day, he donated bottled water. It was wonderful.”

“Each year, I really look forward to the Bowling Green Fall Festival because it’s always such a fun and well-coordinated event,” he said. “The Bowling Green PTA put their hearts, souls and tons of creativity into making this year’s festival truly delightful for all. Not only is it a great family-oriented day with so many entertaining hands-on activities and attractions, but it’s also a terrific PTA fundraiser. This allows the Bowling Green School to continue doing great things for the children.”
