After sweeping the K-Kids awards at the New York State level, the Bowling Green K-Kids learned that they are once again the winningest K-Kids club in the world.
The students are also one of only 20 K-Kids clubs to be named a 2011-12 distinguished club.
K-Kids Advisor Rich Santer praised the club on its accomplishments. “This has been an incredible service year,” he said. “A year ago, I would have never imagined the worldwide reach and impact these elementary school kids would have.”
Due to the hard work of the K-Kids, more than 1,000 mothers and their babies got tetanus vaccinations, Jamaican and Somali school-aged children received learning materials and funds were raised to provide cleft palate reconstruction surgeries to children in the Kingdom in Jordan.
In addition, the Bowling Green K-Kids also completed many local service projects with the East Meadow Kiwanis Club that included several food drives and the annual senior citizens Thanksgiving dinner.
