Merrick's most prominent stage mom, Dina Lohan, caused a commotion at an East Meadow Carvel on June 16, according to reports published by RadarOnline.com.

Things got heated inside the Bellmore Avenue ice cream shop when A-lister Lindsay Lohan's mom was asked to present I.D. while trying to use a Carvel black card, the vendor's celebrity discount card, the gossip blog reports.

"We did respond over there about 5:15 p.m. and there was some type of discrepancy over a card," Nassau County Police officer John Mullaney confirmed.

Mullaney said no criminal offense was committed. "Whether it was the store [who called police] whether it was her, who knows," he said.

According to a statement released by a Carvel spokeswoman, it was Lohan who called the police after her card was taken away by the staff.

Lohan described a hectic interaction with a Carvel employee that arose when she mistakenly used daughter Ali's black card to purchase a birthday cake for her son Cody.

“I couldn’t believe this guy... it’s a family card, it just didn’t have my name on it.," Lohan told RadarOnline. "Next minute, four cop cars showed up, there’s a police helicopter over head and this guy makes it seem to the cops that I’m trying to use a stolen credit card -- and for what? Over a free ice cream?!”

In a statement released by a Carvel spokeswoman, the company issued 75 Black Cards to celebrities as part of its 75th anniversary last year. The spokeswoman, Ashley Swann, said the card holder must be present at the time of use.

However, Swann said "the Lohan family has been abusing the card."

"Unfortunately, the Lohan family has been abusing the card," Swann said. "While the card was issued in Lindsay and Ali’s names only, her extended family has repeatedly used the card without either present. At first, we graciously honored their requests while explaining that the Black Card was not a carte blanche for unlimited Carvel Ice Cream for the extended Lohan family and friends."

Swann said that Carvel staff decided to cut off the Lohans' card and take it back after six months worth of "numerous and large orders for ice cream." The spokeswoman said that Dina Lohan responded by "reacted badly," and called the police. Police returned the card to Lohan, Swann said, and instructed her not to use it again.

"This is an unfortunate situation where certain people feel entitled to use a celebrity’s name for their own purposes," Swann said. "We regret that the Lohan family is upset and hope this matter is put behind us quickly."
