A man was arrested last week in the Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow for allegedly posing as a cop on multiple occasions, police said.

Police said John Calabrese, 42, of Riverhead was arrested without incident at the hospital at 9:24 a.m. on June 1.

According to a police department spokesman, Calabrese is not connected to the May 30 criminal impersonations in East Meadow and Baldwin. At press time, police still sought that subject, who posed as a cop to pull over two victims and demanded their licenses and registrations. Anyone with information on those incidents is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 244-TIPS.

According to Third Squad detectives, Calabrese, on four separate occasions between January and June, presented himself at the emergency room of the NUMC with varying complaints of pain and identified himself as a police officer each time. An AMT Supervisor in the emergency room recognized him from previous visits and notified a Nassau police officer who was present on an unrelated matter, detectives said.

Following an investigation, it was revealed that Calabrese was wanted for previously posing as an officer at the hospital, police said, and he was charged with four counts of Criminal Impersonation 2nd Degree. According to court records, Calabrese was arraigned on June 2 in First District Court.
