Cops: Man stabbed, killed at nearby nightclub

A Brentwood man was stabbed and killed last weekend during a scuffle outside a Levittown nightclub near the border with East Meadow.
   
According to Homicide Squad detectives, the incident occurred last Saturday at 3:40 a.m. in the rear parking lot of Club Shy, located at 2686 Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown. The club is located just east of the Wantagh State Parkway and Loring Road.
   
Detectives said Jovany Huddleston, 24, of Brentwood, stabbed victim Rainero Ramirez, 18, of Brentwood in the neck during an altercation in the lot. Ramirez was transported to the Nassau University Medical Center, where he was treated and released, officials said.

   
Bryant Nunez, 19, also of Brentwood, was stabbed in the abdomen, police said, and was transported to the NUMC where he was pronounced dead at 8:25 a.m.
   
Huddleston was arrested at the scene, police said, and charged with Murder 2nd Degree. He was arraigned on May 23 at First District Court in Hempstead, and is due back in court on May 26.
   
Detectives believe there were numerous witnesses to the incident and ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 244-TIPS, or Homicide Squad at (516) 573-7788. All callers will remain anonymous, police said.

Other crime briefs

Burglary

- A house on Hudson Street in East Meadow was broken into on May 12. Entry was made through a partially open kitchen window. Money was reported stolen.

Robberies

- An unknown stole $35,000 cash from a truck on Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow on May 10 at about 11:38 a.m. The victim was threatened when confronting the subject.

- According to police, a Levittown woman stole an unspecified amount of merchandise from Century 21 on Old Country Road in Westbury on May 18 at about 4:01 p.m. Police said they arrested Shannon Connochie, 20, of Levittown. She fought with security to retain the merchandise, police said.

- A pocket book containing credit cards was reported stolen from a staff member at the Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow  on May 20. The incident occurred sometime between noon and 1:10 p.m, police said.

People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.
