A fifth arrest was made in East Meadow on Sunday, as part of the investigation of a 2007 home invasion that occurred in Hempstead, police announced this week.

Michael Johnson, of Hempstead, was arrested at 100 Carman Avenue in East Meadow, the same address as the Nassau County Correctional Center, on Aug. 28., police said. He was charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Burglary 1st Degree and Criminal Use of a Firearm 1st degree, cops said. No further information about the arrest was available as the Herald went to press.

According to detectives, Johnson and four others, Tasheem Mimms, Mickey Lassic, Jamel Floyd and Naquan Powell, all of Hempstead, acted in concert during a home invasion where the defendants allegedly entered the house armed with a handgun and demanded jewelry and cash. After pistol-whipping one of the home’s occupants, police said, the suspects fled with a small amount of cash and costume jewelry.

People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.
