County capital plan includes road repairs in Salisbury

The Nassau County Legislature approved a 2018 capital plan that includes the resurfacing of three major county roads in Salisbury.

Roads that will be repaired include Carmen Avenue, from Hempstead Turnpike to Old Country Road; Stewart Avenue will be repaired from Bowling Green School to Carman Avenue, and Salisbury Park Drive will be repaired as it runs along Eisenhower Park.

Prior to his election to office, Legislator John Ferretti (R, D-15) said that many members of the community had asked him to help repair their roads and he had promised to do what he could. “I am ecstatic I could secure funding to fulfill this promise in the first year of my term," he said.

Helen Meittinis, who has lived in Salisbury for over forty years, said that she has seen the roads deteriorate over the past few decades dating back to when a sewer was installed beneath them.

“I’m hopeful,” she said. “I know it does take time. And I’m just telling people now we have to be patient. I applaud the [legislature] for what they’ve done.”

Ferretti also secured in the capital plan funding for a bike path, along Seamans Neck Road in Seaford. The path will stretch from the Southern State Parkway north to the end of the road.
