Cub Scout Pack 469 is hosting its annual kick-off Pack meeting and Open House on Friday, Sept. 25 at 7:30 p.m. at Bowling Green Elementary School, at 2340 Stewart Ave. in Westbury.

The pack is aiming to recruit more students in grades one to five. Completely parent-run, Pack 469 thrives on the moms and dads who donate their time and resources.

The pack’s weekly meetings include lessons and projects, which cover a wide array of topics, chosen by the parent or den leader in charge of a particular age group. The topics range from astronomy, cartography, international cultures, recycling, environmental issues, health to sports, with a goal of providing the scouts with a broad view of the world.

Scouts also engage in an annual pine wood car race, where they race their own cars that they build with their parents; field trips to local museums; camping trips; Halloween and Holiday festivities; as well as marching in the local Memorial Day parade.
