East Meadow: a community that cares

To the Editor:

We would like to express our thanks to the firefighters who responded in the early-morning hours last Friday as our home of 32 years burned. They came, they fought an intense fire, and they did all they could.

The women of the Ladies Auxiliary were there to offer coffee and support, and the Fire Marshal stayed with us for hours. We hoped we would never need them, but when we did, they were there. These are volunteers who gave their all, and we thank them, one and all.

Thank you, too to all our neighbors, who offered support and help and love. We have always loved East Meadow because it is such a caring community. That caring was evidenced on that terrible day.
