The East Meadow Chamber of Commerce and the Council of East Meadow Community Organizations (CEMCO) invited residents to the organizations’ annual holiday lighting on Dec. 2 at Town Square in Veterans Memorial Park.

A chilly, clear night in Town Square began with the presentation of the color guard by Sal Pellegrino, commander of VFW Post No. 2736, Lenny Latzman, commander of the Jewish War Veterans Post No. 709 and Carl Pugliese, commander of American Legion Post No. 1082. Chamber president Rose Fuger introduced the veterans to the audience.

The program proceeded with speeches and presentations from dignitaries, including past president Richard Bivone, Town Supervisor Kate Murray, Councilman Gary Hudes and Legislator Norma Gonsalves.

Led by Dave Fletcher, the East Meadow High School band performed holiday music throughout the evening.

U.S. Marine Capt. Nathan Hoff, his wife Stephanie, and their children did the honors of performing the traditional lighting of the tree and menorah.

And, of course, children enjoyed a visit from Santa Claus.
