East Meadow Crime Watch for week of May 6-12

Burglaries

    - A residence on Dewey Place in East Meadow had an attempted burglary on April 27. Attempted entry was made by smashing a side window with a brick causing an alarm to go off.
    - Jewelry and coins were stolen from a home on East Choir Lane in Salisbury, sometime between April 24 at 11:30 a.m. and April 26 at 3:30 p.m.
    - A residence on Park Lane in East Meadow was burglarized on April 29. Entry was made through a rear window. Jewelry and a laptop computer were reported stolen.
    - A house on First Street in East Meadow was broken into on April 30. Entry was made through a basement window. Jewelry and a camera were reported missing.

    - A house on Maitland Street in East Meadow was broken into on May 2.

Robberies


    - An unattended set of golf clubs were reported stolen by a victim in Eisenhower Park on April 24 at around 12:30 p.m.
    - A computer was stolen from a garage at a home on Marion Road in East Meadow, sometime between Feb. 22 and April 22.

Grand larceny auto

    - A 1998 Acura was stolen on Chestnut Avenue in East Meadow, sometime between 10 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. on April 29.
    - A 1994 Honda Civic was stolen from a driveway on Second Street in East Meadow on April 29.

Serious auto accident

    According to detectives, Alfred Weinberg, 74, of Farmingdale, was traveling eastbound on Hempstead Turnpike in a 2005 Dodge when he struck a pedestrian attempting to cross at the intersection with Bellmore Road in East Meadow. The pedestrian, a 48-year-old Levittown man, police said, was taken to the Nassau University Medical Center where he was treated for injuries that were deemed non-life threatening. Neither the driver of the automobile, nor his passenger were injured, police said, and the car was impounded at the scene for safety check. No charges were filed.
