East Meadow elementary schools among best in state

Barnum Woods Elementary School and George McVey Elementary School in the East Meadow Union Free School District were ranked among the top 100 public elementary schools in New York State for 2024, according to U.S. News & World Report.

Additionally, all five elementary schools were ranked within the top 300 in schools in the state. The U.S. News & World Report’s rankings were based upon New York State’s reading and math scores.

“This is a great honor for all our schools, specifically Barnum Woods and McVey elementary schools,” Superintendent of Schools Kenneth Rosner said. “The strong partnership between the schools, parents, and community enables our students to reach their full potential. We are appreciative of the support we receive from the board of education, and we are excited to continue this path to greatness. Congratulations to our great staff here in East Meadow.”

The district said it is proud of all the elementary schools on being named to this prestigious list.
