Temple members get to work

Temple Emanu-El members met on Sept. 23 and helped build one of the largest Sukkah structures in East Meadow. Sukkot is a seven-day harvest holiday that arrives during the Hebrew month of Tishrei. The Sukkah is a large, four-sided, open-air structure that temple-goers eat meals in during the holiday.

Hospital puts an emphasis on wellness

NuHealth wellness committee members met to discuss the upcoming campaign, “Off to a Good Start,” at which employees received information on health education activities in the workplace, explored opportunities for increased physical activities, learned about opportunities for healthful eating and developed worksite policies to encourage overall health and wellness. Several of the members held signs with part of the corporate heart logo that will be placed throughout campus walking trails.


Headed to college

East Meadow resident Veronica Miller enrolled in Rochester Institute of Technology’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf, the nation’s first and largest technological college for deaf and heard-of-hearing students.

Miller graduated from East Meadow High School in June 2012. She is the daughter of Thomas and Laura Miller.


Congratulations, graduate

Luis Leon, of East Meadow, graduated from Youngstown State University in August. He earned a Bachelor of General Studies degree. He was among 360 students at the university who also received degrees in August.
