Alan B. Hodish, an East Meadowite, community activist and principal of the Law Office of Alan B. Hodish, L.L.C., was awarded the Sal Ambrosino Community Service Award by the Hempstead Boys and Girls Club at their 18th Anniversary Dinner/Dance Gala.

Hodish received the award in November. He was honored for his countless contributions to Hempstead.

Hodish, who maintains his law practice in Garden City, is a former teacher and coach in the Hempstead School District. In 2000, he was awarded the Hempstead Public Schools’ Community Trailblazer Award, in recognition of a “legacy of public civic, school and community leadership in the Hempstead community.” Five years later, he received the Education Trailblazer Award from the school district.

Hodish is the founder and chairman of the Nassau County Bar Association’s Mentor Program. This imitative allows local judges, lawyers and Bar Association staff members to serve as mentors to underserved middle and elementary school students in Nassau County, including the ABGS Middle School, Barack Obama Elementary School and Jackson Main Elementary School in Hempstead. In addition, Hodish is also the director and coach of the Hempstead PAL Youth Lacrosse program.

In East Meadow, Hodish is a dedicated member of the Kiwanis Club. He helps organize the annual holiday food basket initiative for local families in need.
