Extended deadline for E.M. Soccer tournament

Posted

If you missed the deadline you may not have missed your opportunity to play in the 33rd Annual East Meadow Soccer Tournament Sponsored by Covanta.

The deadline to apply for this year’s tournament, which is expected to be our biggest yet, has been extended to Aug. 1. Acceptance is not guaranteed at this point but the earlier you apply the better your chances are of getting in.

The tournament will be held on Aug. 27-28, 2011. This tournament is the largest in New York State and is one of the largest in the entire northeast. Do not miss the opportunity to get your team ready for the fall season. Yearly more than 400 teams compete at 17 of the finest fields throughout Nassau County. The large number of teams allows us to create the most balanced brackets around. We are happy to announce that this year we have added more terrific grass fields and several more turf fields.

We will once again be offering our own well regarded block scheduling format, which means you will only have a one game break between matches in most cases. The tournament will also be accepting U8 and U9 teams, some of which will play in the special “Melissa’s Rainbow of Joy Brackets.” The proceeds from these brackets will be donated to Melissa’s Rainbow of Joy, a charity that raises money to promote DWI awareness and helps prevent the tragedies caused by DWI accidents.

In the face of tournaments trying to “get off the ground” all over Long Island, be sure to register for the one event you can count on year after year.
