Gary Hudes is 'On the Go’ in Salisbury, East Meadow

Hempstead Town Councilman Gary Hudes was on the go again, when he brought the Mobile Town Hall to Salisbury with an open door and open ear for concerns of residents.

The Councilman’s “Gary On The Go” program at the Town of Hempstead Pool on Carman Avenue in Salisbury was a chance for residents to meet one-on-one with the Councilman. This program is held in the mobile Town Hall unit, which is a large recreational vehicle, with a living room-like sitting area that lends itself to private conversation. The Gary On The Go program is a direct way of linking government to the people. It eliminates the awkwardness of residents having to speak publicly at a community meeting.

The Gary On The Go program is generally held six times per year, in both the spring and fall. Locations are always accessible (at a shopping center, school parking field, Town pool etc.), putting their community representative mere minutes from the residents’ homes.  These meetings are held during the day, as well as in the evenings, so that those who go to work can still have an opportunity to meet and speak directly with their Councilman.

Hudes also said he plans to host community meetings in the spring, in addition to the one-on-one Gary on the Go meetings.
