Genova’s 280 spurs team victory

Elmont resident Tommy Genova Jr. bowled a 280 in the third game of a 692 series, on Jan. 4, leading the Sewanhaka Central High School District to a 3-0 win over Oyster Bay in the Nassau Conference II bowling tournament.

In addition to this recent Sewanhaka win, Genova won the scratch division of the Long Island Youth Tournament, held at Whitestone Lanes on Dec. 4. More than 60 local bowlers participated in the tournament, and 21 new LIYBT members recorded. In the shootout round of the tournament, Genova advanced with a 202 over Amando Villa’s 175 and Adam Zimmerman’s 138, and in the semi-finals, Genova won with a 214 to Matt Farber’s 190.

On Dec. 18. Genova and his partner, Darren Andretta, bowled in the adult/youth tournament at AMF East Meadow Lanes. In the final match, Andretta bowled a 279 game; Genova bowled a 300.
