The Parkway Elementary School community showed their commitment to remaining healthy during the holiday season by participating in a run just before Thanksgiving.

The Parkway Turkey Trot was held on Wednesday, Nov. 25. Students at the school, situated at 465 Bellmore Road, prepared for the run and will continue exercise throughout the holiday season, administrators said.

East Meadow School District officials explained that students trained for the Turkey Trot by increasing the amount of time they spent running during each physical education lesson. They even came to school on the day of the event with personalized running bibs.

The children were tasked with running around the school grounds for 12 minutes. Members of the Parkway Parent Teacher Association were there to cheer them on, in addition to providing them cups of water.
