Kiwanis recognizes some TERRIFIC Kids

A crowded room of parents looked on as Woodland and W.T. Clarke middle school students were recognized as TERRIFIC Kids by the East Meadow Kiwanis and school district.

TERRIFIC Kids is a student-recognized program that promotes character development, self-esteem and perseverance and a core group of sixth, seventh and eighth graders displayed those admirable traits in the last few months.

According to Kiwanis International, students work with their teachers to improve behavior, peer friendships and schoolwork. The TERRIFIC Kids achieved or surpassed these individual goals and were awarded a certificate and sticker at a ceremony preceding the Board of Education meeting on May 31. They really were TERRIFIC (Thoughtful, Enthusiastic, Respectful, Responsible, Inclusive, Friendly, Inquisitive and Capable).
