Switch Replacement in Wantagh Saturday to Monday, Nov. 2-4 & Nov. 9-11

MTA Long Island Rail Road workers will be replacing switches at a key interlocking in Wantagh over the next two weekends, a project that will result in track outages between Babylon and Freeport and schedule changes for trains on the Babylon, Montauk, Hempstead and Far Rockaway branches as well as trains stopping at St. Albans Station in Queens.

The LIRR advises customers to consult the Special Timetables with revised train schedules for each of those routes. The Special Timetables available at terminals and stations and on the MTA LIRR website www.mta.info/lirr.

Here are some of the important changes affecting service branch by branch:

Sunday and Monday, Nov. 3-4 & November 10-11

For five hours beginning at 9 PM Sunday night and continuing through 2:30 AM Monday morning, buses will replace trains in both directions between Freeport and Babylon when both tracks are taken out of service at the same time. Customers should plan for up to 20 minutes of extra travel time.
