Last Saturday presented perfect weather for a picnic.
And that’s exactly what happened at the East Meadow Baseball Softball Association complex, on Merrick Avenue, just south of Hempstead Turnpike. The league’s annual picnic hosts All-Star games for various age groups, while also serves to distribute awards to its successful teams and players.
Among the teams honored were the boys’ Section 6 team, as well as the East Meadow Fillies fast pitch softball squad.
Most important of all, the day allowed for young athletes and their parents to join together to celebrate athletics and community camaraderie. It was a very busy day at the complex, as league officials barbecued throughout the afternoon.
The Herald was there to catch the action.
