Love is something to share

A column for Valentine's Day

Posted

Love is . . . comics have been published since 1972, but creator Kim Casali began the doodles in the late 1960s as love notes for her husband-to-be, Roberto. The cartoon featured a naked boy and girl and included sayings like, “Love is intoxicating, without the hangover; love is wanting to give her the moon and the stars; love is sharing your milkshake; love is going with him even when you don’t want to.”

In honor of Valentine’s Day, take a moment to remember the little reasons why you love your romantic partner, your friends and your family, and think about what love means to you.

To me, love is too often underappreciated; love is available if you open yourself to it; love is the look in my puppy’s eyes when I arrive home from work; love is a warm embrace between male friends after their favorite team wins a close game; love is an irreplaceable emotion.
