Girls Scouts honored with Bronze Award

East Meadow Girl Scouts were praised for earning their Bronze Award at a ceremony at Woodland Middle School last month. The Bronze Award is a prestigious accomplishment that is obtained after devoting numerous hours to community service projects. In addition to earning this award, the girls also received Town of Hempstead Certificates of Recognition that were presented by Councilman Gary Hudes and Town Clerk Mark Bonilla. Legislator Norma Gonsalves was also present and hailed the young woman as future leaders.

Resident recognized for commitment to customer service

Allstate agency owner Aisha Ratkewitch was named an Allstate Premiere Service Agent for 2012. A recognition bestowed upon less than one-third of Allstate employees, Ratkewitch was lauded for her dedication to customers and consistently demonstrating excellence while delivering accessible, knowledgeable and personal service. The Aisha Ratkewitch Agency is located on Newbridge Road in East Meadow.

Student earns college scholarship

East Meadow resident Danielle Chasworth was among 600 incoming freshman at SUNY Oswego who received a merit scholarship. She earned a $5,000 Dean’s Award that is given in recognition of past academic achievement and potential for success. Chasworth graduated from East Meadow High School in June and will begin her collegiate education on Aug. 27.
